Family

“My family loves
each other like birds
                   flying together
and
                   singing together,
playing together
                           and
munching together.
              I hope it
         goes on forever.”

Tell it again

One of our goals as parents is to make sure that our kids know God.  We take them to church, of course, but we also try to talk about him in everyday situations.  Most nights we read a short bible story just before bedtime, too.  We’re not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but we’ve [...]

Nobody’s Fool

When the girls misbehave, we often punish them by taking away treats or movies or computer time.  The other day, I told them no treats for the rest of the week because they weren’t listening.

Today our girls were working with Anna Marie, their Mom, to complete an application to certify our backyard as a wildlife habitat.  The goal for us adults is to get a free magazine for the girls. When the application was finished, Shyanna asked, “Do we get a prize?”
To this Anna Marie replied, “No, we get a sign.”
Having no [...]

Say That Again?

Recently I was at the park with the girls.  They played for some time on their own, but eventually they coaxed me over to give them a big spin on the merry-go-round.  From opposite ends of the platform each started yelling “hello” as they passed by my position.  So as they were spinning, I was hearing [...]

Get ‘er Done

The other day I was trying to move my daughters along.  They are easily distracted and I wanted them to get their seat belts on so we could get moving.  I turned around to them and said, “Get ‘er done!” to which my youngest replied, “Get HIM done!”
